A fatal accident at Coors and Tower in Albuquerque leaves a family shattered. Kathleen Krech Courchesne, victim of a car accident yesterday afternoon, was killed immediately in the accident that occurred around 3:30pm.
Per the KOAT news report (12/18/15, Swanson), a pickup truck failed to stop at a stop sign on Tower Road. According to the police, an officer saw this happen and changed direction, intending to conduct a traffic stop. The truck then ran through a red light south of Bridge Boulevard, hitting Courchesne’s vehicle which was traveling on Coors. Her family advised that Courchesne was driving to pick up her grandson from the bus stop. She sadly died at the scene of the accident.
The individual driving the pickup truck was taken to the hospital for accident-caused injuries, where he also died.
Investigators are attempting to figure out what exactly happened. A later report from KOAT (12/18/15, Cruz) advised that a gun and drugs were found in the pickup truck, which was stolen.
