Toxicology report has been released for the driver accused of driving while intoxicated, leading to the tragic deaths of Roberto Mendez (age 27), Sergio Mendez-Aguirre (age 23), and Grace Sinfield (age 20) in November. According to KOB (1/7/16, Miller), the impact was so great that the vehicle transporting Mendez, Mendez-Aguirre, and Sinfield rolled multiple times. This accident occurred around midnight on Sunday, November 29. The vehicles collided at the I-25 Frontage Road.
The accused ran through a red light and hit the vehicle of Mendez, Mendez-Aguirre, and Sinfield. KRQE (11/29/15) reported that Jaramillo confessed to drinking alcohol prior to the accident. Later at the hospital, he told police that he did drink, though had just one. His blood alcohol level was tested and now, the toxicology report released shows a BAC level of 0.15 at the time of the fatal accident. Jaramillo survived the accident, treated for injuries stated as non-life threatening. This was his third time being arrested for driving while intoxicated.
Apparently, this isn’t the first time Jaramillo has been in trouble. In October of last year, he was arrested for assault of a Sheriff’s Deputy at Imbibe Cigar Lounge in Nob Hill. Per KRQE, this Deputy was specifically targeted by Jaramillo because he assisted the police in finding one of his friends. The friend violated probation for a drunk driving caused accident in 2010.
Our deepest sympathies go out to the loved ones of Roberto, Sergio, and Grace.
